FleshPots: Hollywood Greats
Fleshpots were a British pottery firm based in Stoke on Trent, the world`s largest and most
famous pottery producing city. The company was started in 1978 by the potter and engineer
Morris Rushton who had a persistent sense of humour and was interested in creating fun and
innovative items.
One of the lines of pottery that went into production was a collection of life sized busts of
Iconic film stars called the`Hollywood Greats collection`
The collection consisted of busts of stars like Judy Garland, Bing Crosby and Elvis Presley
and came in either a white finish or a hand painted colour finish.
Many of the figures produced were shipped to the US where there was a high demand and
therefore they are relatively hard to find in the UK.
Fears and Kahn currently have a number of original Fleshpots busts in stock, Judy, Clark,
Bing, Charlie and Elvis are all for sale…www.fearsandkahn.co.uk
Nice to see these, my dad was a ceramic caster and made a few of these, back in the 1970’s. He still has Elvis and Bing, in white. Very classy.
Thank you for the post x
How fascinating to hear that your Dad actually worked for Flesh Pots, thanks for sharing! :))
I wanted a Clark gable head but was a poor student and could not afford £69.
My husband and father in law made these when they worked at flesh pots in Fenton after Flesh pots took over the James Kent site, we have the elvis bust with a yellow collar.
